Is the video sounds familiar to you? We listen to it way more than we see it. That’s why it sounds so familiar. Personally when I hear the voice, immediately it brings out memories of being on a flight. But, have you ever wondered who is behind the beautiful voice? Let me introduce you to Candy Lau, a person who sounds familiar to all of us and yet we may not recognize her.

When did you discover you voice-over talent?

I started my career as a professional voice-over eleven years ago. I have done voice-over for TV advertisements such as Vidal Sasson, Bioderma, Kellogg’s etc. I have also done recording for documentaries, teaching materials, corporate videos like Cathay Pacific, Chaumet, HSBC, Hang Seng Bank and others.

What inspire you to create a Youtube channel for story-telling?

Recently I have wondered how I could make full use of my voice-over talent in my daily life. I realized that perhaps I could use my skill to tell stories to my son. After I have shared stories to him for a year, I noticed that he has improved a lot on his Cantonese language. I also noticed that there are not many professional voice-over talent sharing free stories online, so I started this Youtube channel. I hope that I can collaborate with publishers to share more learning materials to kids and even youngster in future.

To tell stories with one’s voice, and to let children push the boundaries of their imagination through listening to those stories.’

What is the benefit of listening to stories for children?

I believe that while young children are still growing, not only will watching electronic screens will cause vision problems due to the immaturity of their eye structures, it will also greatly diminish their interest and patience in reading books. Thus, I hope to use my storytelling ability and my own parenting experience to tell some interesting and meaningful stories – all to help children develop the habit of listening, imagining, and thinking. I also hope to provide parents with free teaching material communicated mainly in Cantonese.
