Hummus ( with homemade Tahini Paste) is a popular Middle Eastern cuisine. Hummus is a delicious and healthy spread or dip made from cooked chickpeas , tahini ,lemon, garlic and spices. This creamy vegan dip is a perfect accompaniment to veggies and crispy fried falafels.

INGREDIENTS:

  • ¼ cup White sesame seeds 
  • 4 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1cup chickpeas ( soaked overnight, boiled and drained)
  • 1-2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2-3 garlic cloves
  • ½ tsp cumin seeds or powder
  • 1 tbsp salt 1-2 tbsp hot water

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Dry roast the white sesame seeds just till seeds turn golden (not brown)
  • Dry grind them 
  • Now add 1-2 tbsp of olive oil and grind to again to a fine paste (running consistency)
  • Your homemade Tahini paste is ready 
  • Add cooked chickpeas to a food processor jar
  • Add Tahini paste
  • Add lemon juice
  • Add garlic, salt and cumin
  • Blend it all together

Midway while it’s grinding , add olive oil and hot water. Creamy delicious Hummus is ready

  • Transfer to a serving bowl. Add olive oil and sprinkle paprika
