The Winter Solstice is coming, and Salt-Baked Chicken is a perfect HAKKA Chinese dish. I will share with you my home-cooked dishes for the Winter Solstice this year. Since we need to stay home due to the Covid, dinning out is not an option, but prepare a home cooked meal for everyone is still fun and enjoyable!


Winter Solstice means the arrival of the coldest winter. We celebrate with preserved sausages, oily food like Pork belly and chicken to keep us warm, and chicken is a Must since it sounds like ‘Good Fortune’. ‘吉’.
We also like to make some sweet dumplings (Tangyuan), which carry the meaning of ‘Reunion’.
